NVREC Scholarships

Scholarships available for local students

Nishnabotna Valley REC is invested in empowering the next generation of community leaders. Therefore, we offer scholarships for two- and four-year colleges, as well as technical, vocational, and electric lineworker programs.

​

Each year, these scholarships help students from our service territory pursue their education and prepare for future success.

 

Graduating high school seniors or currently enrolled college students in our service area are eligible to apply using the form below. Completed applications must be submitted by Monday, February 2, 2026.

Full Terms and Conditions:

A total of up to $7,000 in college scholarships will be awarded by Nishnabotna Valley REC (NVREC) and Basin Electric Power Cooperative for the 2025-2026 school year. Dependents of NVREC member-owners are also eligible for a $1,000 scholarship through our power supplier Basin Electric Power Cooperative in Bismarck, ND.

  • NVREC has one $1,000 scholarship available to all area students enrolled in or planning to attend an accredited Electrical Lineworker program. The student must be a graduate of a high school within NVREC's service territory. Please contact Kara Meiners at NVREC to see if you qualify and to apply for this scholarship.

  • NVREC is also offering three $1,000 scholarships for students enrolled or planning to enroll in a two or four-year college or university. Students must be a dependent of a member-owner of NVREC to qualify. Students may qualify for this scholarship only once.

  • The foundation now has up to three $1,000 scholarships for students enrolled or planning to enroll in two-year technical or vocational school, given priority. Again, eligible students must be a dependent of a member-owner of NVREC, and students may only qualify for this scholarship once.

Scholarship recipients will be selected based on academic performance (GPA, ACT/SAT), work experience, school and community involvement, career goals, an essay on the cooperative business model, and a third-party recommendation.
