Community and Economic Development
Nishnabotna Valley REC’s service territory encompasses parts of six counties in southwest Iowa. The importance of economic development in these rural areas directly relates to the growth and preservation of the communities in which we work and live. Nishnabotna Valley REC is a leader in helping area businesses thrive and attracting new businesses to southwest Iowa by partnering with the organizations listed below.
Your Cooperative also takes pride in supporting our communities through programs designed to meet the needs of individuals or families that request help. Programs like Operation Round Up and RECare offer our member-owners an avenue to help members of the community with their electric bill or other financial burden until they can get back on their feet. Programs like the Co-op Connections Card are designed to help member-owners save money on items like groceries, prescriptions, and other everyday expenses.
2022 Volunteer Day at the Cooperative
Nishnabotna Valley REC Employees and Board of Directors spent a cold day in November spreading holiday cheer and getting ready for the Christmas season. They helped the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce and The Friends of Harlan Downtown decorate the courthouse lawn in time for the annual tree lighting ceremony.
