Energy Efficiency Rebates

Insulation in your home provides resistance to heat flow. The more heat flow resistance your insulation provides, the lower your heating and cooling costs. Properly insulating your home not only reduces heating and cooling costs, but also improves comfort.

To maintain comfort, the heat lost in the winter must be replaced by your heating system and the heat gained in the summer must be removed by your cooling system. Properly insulating your home will decrease this heat flow by providing an effective resistance to the flow of heat.

Rebate Requirements:

• Must be a Nishnabotna Valley REC member

• 30% of the installed cost – up to $800 maximum rebate

• Structure must be on NVREC lines

• Insulation professionally installed by a registered contractor – blown-in, insulating concrete forms, rigid Styrofoam panels and/or structural insulated panels type insulation

• Structure must have a primary electric heating source – includes new or existing homes, agriculture and commercial buildings

• One rebate per structure

• Need copy of invoice and rebate form completed and returned to Nishnabotna Valley REC

Recycling your old refrigerator or freezer responsibly offers a lot more than just a lower electricity bill.

Older refrigerators use up to four times more electricity than newer Energy Star® rated units. Many second refrigerators are used only occasionally or are not full, wasting even more energy.

If your refrigerator or freezer is 25 years old, it consumes on average 1,500-kilowatt hours annually. A new unit would consume 400 to 500 kilowatt hours annually. Recycling the older unit would free up this energy for other uses and lessen overall energy demand. Nishnabotna Valley REC offers a $50 rebate to members who recycle their qualifying appliances.

If you take the refrigerator or freezer to a qualifying landfill and get a receipt indicating what type of appliance you delivered, you may qualify for a $50/unit rebate.

Each member can recycle maximum of 3 appliances.

Variable Speed Motors and Soft Start Devices

* Note: seasonal applications are not eligible for this rebate.

1. New variable speed energy efficiency motors installed in a commercial, industrial or agricultural building: $30 per horse power / cap of $5,000

2. Qualifying soft start devices must be installed on an existing motor in a commercial, industrial or agricultural building: $30 per horse power (based on the horsepower of the motor the soft start device to which it is connected).

Ductless Minisplit Heating and Cooling

All Ductless Mini-splits must be Energy Star Certified

Limited to 1 Rebate/Leasable Hotel Room

If back-up heat is electric

• New Installation $800/Ton; <=30% Equipment Cost

• Replacement Installation $400/Ton; <= 30% Equipment Cost

If back-up heat is propane or natural gas:

• New Installation $400/Ton <= 30% Equipment Cost

• Replacement Installation $200/Ton <= 30% Equipment Cost

• Level 2 or Higher Chargers: 2.9-17kW, 220-240V

• Must be hardwired and installation must meet local code

• Member to provide charger make, model, S/N, specifications

• Cannot back-feed into the system

• Load Control Switch Required

• Must have built in accessible meter or REC/Muni meter installed

• Residential 50% cost, max of $750/charger, max of 2/ household

• Commercial 50% cost, max of $1,200/charger, max 5/ location
