Energy savings for
summer
- Set your air conditioning thermostat
as high as comfortably possible.
- Install white window shades, drapes,
or blinds to reflect heat away from the
house.
- Caulking and weather-stripping will
keep cool air in during the summer.
- Closing air conditioning vents in
unoccupied rooms may save up to 10% on
your cooling costs.
- Install awnings on south-facing
windows. Apply sun-control or
other reflective films on south-facing
windows.

Call First, Dig Later
If you are planning to do any
type of digging, Nishnabotna Valley REC
reminds you to always call Iowa One Call at
least 48 hours in advance. It's as easy as
calling 811, and it's toll free. The
underground lines will be marked with paint
and/or flags. Please note: The
REC does NOT mark underground lines on the
member's side of the service through Iowa
One Call.
