Iowa's "one-call" law requires anyone digging or excavating to call first to see if there are any underground electric lines or cables. Exceptions include farmers who are conducting normal operations (unless they expect to dig deeper than 15 inches) and gardeners who work the same plot year after year.
Any utility or organization that has underground lines is required to mark those lines within 48 hours of the call. The 1993 law assures safety for anyone digging, and saves the cost of repairing lines that are accidentally damaged.
Please note: We will NOT mark underground lines on the member's side of the meter through an Iowa One Call request. We will, however, locate member's underground secondary lines at the current per hour rate for service work.
