Students of Nishnabotna Valley REC members
In the past, the Nishnabotna Valley Foundation has given four $500 college scholarships to students of Nishnabotna Valley REC members. In addition, Basin Electric Power Cooperative has awarded a $1,000 scholarship to a student of a member of Nishnabotna Valley REC, making a total of $3,000 available for college students. Applicants must have the following qualifications:
  • Must be U.S. citizens
  • Must be dependents of Nishnabotna Valley REC members
  • Enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time undergraduate or graduate course of study at an accredited, two-year or four-year college, university or vocational/technical school.

Scholarships are awarded without regard to other awards, loans or financial assistance the applicant may have obtained. College freshmen through graduate students may apply. The five scholarships are not limited to first year college students. The recipients of the scholarships are chosen by a selection committee appointment by the REC, whose decisions are final. Their selection is based on the following:

  • SAT/ACT scores and overall grade point average
  • Participation in school and community activities
  • A personal statement of career goals
  • A written recommendation by a third party

Stop by the office, call, email or write for an application form and details. Contact Mary Johnson at the REC, mjohnson@nvrec.com for further details.
