Heat Pumps

Geothermal Heat Pumps

Geothermal heat pumps are the most efficient heating and cooling systems available.  They offer a single, simple system that uses the earth to heat and cool your home, and they operate at efficiencies of up to 350 percent.  Geothermal heat pumps are also environmentally friendly:  You aren’t creating heat; you’re only moving it from one place to another.  And of course, high efficiency means low cost!  A geothermal heat pump installation qualifies for Nishnabotna Valley REC’s Switch Makes Cents rates and rebates.

Air Source Heat Pumps

An air source heat pump is versatile.  It is actually two units in one:  an efficient home heating system and an economical air conditioner.  It moves heat, using a refrigerant and coils, much the same way as your refrigerator works.  Heat pumps do not rely on the combustion of fuels like oil, propane or natural gas.  In winter, the heat pump’s outside unit captures heat that exists naturally in the atmosphere and transfers it to the inside unit where it is amplified to warm your home.  In summer, the process is reversed to remove heat and excess humidity, leaving your home cool and comfortable.  An air source heat pump installation qualifies for Nishnabotna Valley REC’s Switch Makes Cents rates and rebates.
