Alliances and partnerships have been a key to the economic development successes the Cooperative has seen over the past several years. Building a 40,000 sq. ft. speculative building at the business park south of Harlan was a joint effort with Western Ventures, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Nishnabotna Valley REC, Northwest Iowa Power Cooperative, and the Harlan Industrial Foundation.

These parks and the speculative building are continuously marketed by Iowa Area Development Group, Western Iowa Development Association, and Northwest Iowa Power Cooperative - all marketing partners with the REC.

The Cooperative is fortunate to have more than one business park in its service territory. The Oakland Business Park is located north of Oakland, Iowa, on Highway 59. Also, at Walnut, Iowa, development continues at the northeast corner of the Interstate 80 interchange.
